I then completed a degree in Agriculture at Newcastle University in 1985 \u2013&nbsp;<em>BSc (Hons) Agriculture (Animal Production).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On completing my degree I returned home to work on the small family farm with my father and sister. During this time I was involved with both the management and day to day tasks of both the breeding fattening pig unit and arable enterprises. My life in agriculture also means I have a good working knowledge of most other agricultural enterprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The management side of this work saw me develop the following skills as I computerised the accounting and recording and introduced analysis of the pigs and crops:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accounting skills:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Cash Book Analysis; Double entry book keeping; VAT records etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Computing skills:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Spreadsheets (Excel); Word processing (Word); Database (Access)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interpersonal skills:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Excellent Communication.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The twenty plus years I grew up and worked in agriculture means I have an extensive knowledge of all aspects on modern UK Agriculture.
